To begin the process, you’ll meet with the team at Arlington Dental Group for an orthodontic consultation. Your dentist will perform an oral exam, discuss your smile with you, and determine if you’re a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign. If you’re approved, they will take images and impressions of your mouth, and begin working with Invisalign to develop your treatment plan.
After a few weeks, you’ll come into our office to pick up your first several sets of aligners. You’ll wear your Invisalign trays for about 20-22 hours per day, and you’ll swap to a new set of aligners as instructed by your dentist.
Most patients will switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks, and come back to our office for a checkup every 4-6 weeks. Your dentist will check your teeth to make sure they're moving properly, and give you the next few sets of aligners that you’ll need.
Once your Invisalign treatment has concluded, you’ll come in for a final checkup, and to have retainers made for your teeth. You’ll need to wear your retainers at night after Invisalign treatment to keep your teeth from shifting and moving.
First and foremost, Invisalign aligners are completely invisible when worn. This means that they don’t affect your appearance, which is particularly desirable for older adults who want orthodontic treatment.
Invisalign has no metal components or other parts that may irritate your cheeks or other parts of your mouth. It also tends to move your teeth more evenly and gently compared to braces, which means it’s more comfortable overall.
Since you can remove your Invisalign aligners, there are no dietary restrictions, and it’s also easier to brush and floss. You can even remove Invisalign to do things like play sports and play musical instruments. However, make sure you’re wearing your aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day for the best results.
Pricing differs for every patient. But in general, Invisalign is comparable in price to traditional orthodontic solutions, such as metal braces. This means that you won’t have to break the bank to get the smile you’ve always wanted.
In most cases, you’ll notice changes to the position of your teeth within two to four weeks of beginning Invisalign treatment. Your smile will continue to change and improve throughout your Invisalign treatment. On average, Invisalign treatment takes about a year to complete, though this may vary depending on the patient.
